1008, p. 1 (Water approval process) Lake Mohave Ranchos Water Company announced (1) imminent completion of power line to serve pumping facilities at Well No. 1. (2) As soon as power facilities have been completed, the 15-horsepower pump, purchased for this well, will be installed. (3) Installation and check out of pump. (4) Comprehensive series of tests to determine capacity of the well.

Detailed and complex procedure necessary to make application for the water company to function as a public utility. (A) Jordan Engineering Company has almost completed necessary extensive engineering plans for proposed Ranchos water development. (B) Completed plans forwarded to water company's legal representative in Phoenix. (C)

Legal representative to complete necessary legal work to make application before Arizona Corporation Commission for a Certificate of Necessity and Convenience. (Oct-Nov 62)

1001 p. 2 On July 14fl1 after approximately two weeks of drilling, A. W. Graham of Graham Brothers Drilling Company, brought in the first water well for the Lake Mohave Ranchos Water Co., Inc. The well site is located near Dolan Springs, east of the Club house about 2 miles. The site for this important well was selected after a geophysical survey was performed by the E. R. Geophysical Company of Phoenix, Arizona. This survey was completed May 6th, 1962. Both Mr. Graham and officials of Lake Mohave Ranchos Water Co., Inc. are reported pleased with the apparent productive capacity of the new well. Its relative high elevation is expected to be effectively utilized in the projected water system designed for Lake Mohave Ranchos by the J. T. Jordan

Engineering Co., of Kingman. The completion of the well is a first step in a projected system designed to accommodate gradual, progressive development in the coming years. (August 1962)

1139 First water company started in 1963 (capacity 50,000 gal., daily)

1002, p. 7 35 residents formed a non-profit association to be known as the Joshua Hills Water Association, to provide a water service and storage facility in the Joshua tree forest area of Lake Mohave Ranchos. A 710-foot well has been drilled on lot donated to Assn by Chuck and Lisa Newton. Valley Drilling of Las Vegas drilled the 8-inch well and installed the IOHSP electric motor set at 651. A preliminary well test indicates 40-50 gallons per minute. The Assn has constructed a building where non-members may purchase water at proposed rate of .25 per 100 gallons. Newton newly elected president of the Assn; John Petro vice-president; and Ernest Petro, Secretary of assn .(Nov-Dec 62)

1139, p. 2 The Mt. Tipton Water Company, Inc. was organized and incorporated in May, 1968 by Lake Mohave Ranchos residents. Twenty-dollar contributions by each subscriber, totaling $7,000, paid for legal and engineering work required to prepare a loan application to the FHA, Department of Agriculture. A $248,300 loan was made, plus an added $174,200 as an outright grant. (Rancho Rambin' — no date)

Dedication ceremonies took place at the Mt. Tipton Water Co., Inc. offices on October 12, 1972 at 2-3 pm and also at the Ranch Club 3-5 pm. Inspection on May 16ff by the FHA, the Board of Health and Engineer's office, found the system complete and acceptable. The papers of acceptance were then signed. Since late Spring the water had been available, so the final acceptance must have relieved everyone. The Water Company has officially been in operation since May 25, 1972. 138 customers are being served at this time. (Rancho Rambin' — no date)

1143, p. 10 (guestimate 1974) Water Company was hit with numerous pump failures. Controversy ensued when a Water board director protested news articles which appeared erroneous to him. A reporter replied this was not reasonable as DeLong was the project director of the water expansion project, implying that the information would be biased. A minimum of 270 new customers willing to pay $18 monthly for not less than three years was necessary for the new expansion. Applicants pay $200 share of the Lot construction costs. The proposed water line would not cover all the streets in Lake Mohave Ranchos. (1974? )

1150, p. 13 Lake Mohave Water Company has been for sale, according to Tom and

Florence White. They agree on merger with Mt. Tipton Water Co., Inc. (Feb 76)

1144, p. 13 Mt. Tipton Water Company, Inc., was serving 405 customers, and Lake Mohave Rancho Water Company was serving 178 customers on March 21 st, 1976.

1145, p. 13 An editorial by Walt DeMatteo’s about Mt. Tipton Water Company took issue with local personalities and conflicts with certain community members.

1147, p. 10 The Mt. Tipton Water Company expansion was directed primarily to 1 9fll — 21 st streets. (September 1976)

1148, p. 8     A report from the Pace Engineering Company analyzed water needs for the Dolan Springs area. The study was performed by Mt. Tipton Water Company engineers.           (November 11976

(Where is this report? Using MTWC engineers unbiased?)

1148, p. 11 In a letter from the secretary of the MTWC, Lake Mohave Rancho News was designated as the official publication for the company. The Rancho Rambling editor objected saying that paper would print the water news from their point of view only. (November 1976)

1148, p. 15 Lake Mohave Rancho News was new to the community. Editor said it was the voice of "same group of people who dislike our (Rancho Rambling facts) facts." (November 1976)

1149, p. 8-9 Ed DeLong , project director and director-at-large for the MTWC, states in his paper, the Joshua Journal that "Water company growth is in the hands of the FHA." In a letter to Rancho Ramblings the FHA said that Mt. Tipton Water Company may submit a preapplication to FHA After the preapplication the FHA would evaluate the situation to see if a formal application from the company was desirable.   (December 1976)

(Check out quotation as JJ not by name until Feb '77. Was formerly the Lake Mohave Rancho News.)

1015 p. 7 Water Expansion Assoc. Calls Community Meeting. 454 Residents who are customers of the Mt. Tipton Water Inc., and of the Lake Mohave Rancho Water Company, as well as applicants for water service being called to discuss review of the

MTWC application for federal financing of new wells and extension of the water lines. At present, the 454 residents depend upon one water well to provide 72 gallons of water for household needs and backyard gardens flowing through a 4-inch pipe which is only one-third full. (Feb 1978)

1015 p. 5  Water Project for L.M.R. Area Lake Mohave Rancho residents have applied to the Farmers Home Administration for additional federal funding to expand the existing Mt. Tipton water companies' water production and storage capacity to include 300 more applicants for piped water service. Rapid construction and population growth in the Dolan Springs-Lake Mohave Rancho area forced the MTWC to temporarily refuse any new water service customers until such time as the moratorium imposed by the Arizona Health Dept. has been lifted. Upon completion of the new proposed million-dollar water project the Dolan Springs population growth is expected to resume at the fantastic level of 1976. In 1976, Dolan Springs had more building permits and more construction value than the City of Kingman with Dolan Springs ranking in growth in the 5th largest county in the USA. (Fall 1978)

1017 p. 3 April 3 rd., the MTWC experienced its eighth pump motor burnout. For the 8ül time, Tom and Florence White's Lake Mohave Ranchos Water Co. came to the rescue. An emergency interconnect of the two water companies was installed at the beginning of the series of motor burnouts to provide uninterrupted water service to MTWC. Frank Smith, the MTWC Manager, recently received his permanent Arizona Certification to maintain the MTWC Water System. Smith is a former Aurora, Colorado resident where he had been employed by that city's water department. (May 78)

1017 p. 20    MTWC's request for a federal grant to pay the cost of obtaining a hydrological survey is now on the agenda of the Four Corners Regional Commission. The survey is a requirement of Arizona Corporation Commission intended to guarantee each water consumer a continued piped water service. The cost of the survey is expected to be around $50,000. Test wells will be drilled by the Arizona Health Dept.., Hydrological Division. Findings and recommendations of the Health Dept. are then delivered to the Arizona Corporation Commission, Utilities Division, for the Commissioners' stamp of approval.         Pace Engineering of Phoenix is preparing an engineering report for MTWC which will determine the feasibility of purchasing water from the Lake Mohave Rancho Water Co. The MTWC board of directors has entered into a preliminary agreement, subject to approval of all state and federal agencies, with the LMR Water Co. for the purpose of lifting the present Arizona Health Dept. ruling which prevents the MTWC from adding additional water service meters. (May 78)

1018 p. 1      Max Dearing, President of the MTWC, and Tom White, President of the Lake Mohave Rancho Water Co signed an agreement which allows the MTWC to lift the water service moratorium that has stunted the economic growth of Dolan Springs for the past 18 months. The agreement allows the MTWC to purchase up to 1,700,000 gallons of water per month from the LMR Water Company.      The MTWC has not abandoned the water expansion project to extend the piped water system to the populated areas where approximately 300 additional applicants are requesting metered water service. Tom White quoted: It's no secret that the rapid growth pace, as we saw in 1976, slowed down because of the moratorium. If the MTWC obtains ASI-D permission to serve an additional 120 customers, the MTWC will have 336 customers to add to the 300 applicants., Thus a grand total of 636 paying customer to pay the mortgage. (Nov 78)

1030, p. 4 Water Flows. Chuck Newton, President of Joshua Hills Water Co. Inc., told the JJ water is now available to the public at 25 cents per hundred for anyone who is equiped to haul their water. The coin-operated service is located on a drive-thru between Ocotillo and Olive streets and can be reached by driving east on 19fl1, or north on Ocotillo from PFR. The water well and storage facility is in LIVIR Unit 11, Section 5. (May-June 83)

1033, p. 4 Special Notice: The Joshua Hills Water Co., Inc. has been paying expenses incurred preliminary to the Water District purchasing the water company at a fair market price. The District will operate the well as it operates now, to have water available for the residents that will not be located in our District. (Jan 1990)
